Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival
October 16 - 18, 2020
Virtual
The Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival and Short Film Competition aims to change the picture of disability through film. The top cinematic celebration of disability in the state, the Festival features the best work of independent filmmakers from around the world, from documentaries to animated shorts to the avant-garde. The two-day event, usually held at the Alamo Drafthouse, provides a unique and entertaining way to positively and accurately view disability.
In 2020, in light of the coronavirus crisis, Cinema Touching Disability held TWO events:
- We tried something new in 2020—and it was great! CTDFF: Online!, a digital showcase of disability shorts from our international Short Film Competition, launched August 15 and closed September 15. In addition to presenting 10 outstanding disability shorts, we also held 4 Q&As with the filmmakers. While CTDFF: Online! has closed, you can still see which films we screened, plus recordings of our filmmaker Q&As.
- Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival, our signature event, took place October 16, 17, and 18 online. Our film line up for this year's Festival was completely different than our CTDFF: Online! short film showcase, view our program.

The Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival is a program of the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities. One in five Texans has a disability, and CTD works to ensure that we may work, live, learn, play and participate fully in the community of their choice. CTD’s statewide priorities include independent living, attendant wages and other services, civil rights, employment, and access to healthcare and medications. Get involved!
