Attendants deserve a raise!
Stand up for community attendants and help the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) understand the following fact: raising the minimum for community attendants to $10/ hour is a cost-effective way to strengthen community services and programs and to support Texans with disabilities. Money spent on this modest wage increase improves reliability and care, which results in
- better health for the consumer
- less acute care
- fewer ER visits
- fewer people being institutionalized unnecessarily
HHSC is seeking public input as it develops its budget request to present to the Legislature for the Fiscal Years 2016-2017 budget cycle. Stakeholders are invited to submit ideas and initiatives through June 23 for consideration in the agency’s budget request.
