Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival

Cinema Touching Disabilities logo

In 2004, the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities noticed the absence of disability film festivals in the state. We created, for this reason, Cinema Touching Disability, a  festival featuring films that have a positive and accurate representation of disability. Cinema Touching Disability’s audiences have both enjoyed the festival and learned something new about disability. This festival provides an enjoyable way of dispelling common misperceptions about disability.

Now planning for it's 10th season, Cinema Touching Disability has gained recognition as the top cinematic celebration of disability in the state. The festival has received awards and recognition from  the Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities, the Austin Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities, the Texas Film Commission, and the Austin Film Society. The  Short Film Competition provides  independent filmmakers from around the world an opportunity to screen their animated, international, and documentary disability films.
