Texans with Disabilities Driving Advocacy

CTD (with the help of a variety of advocates) has developed three short online surveys to collect research data on subjects that directly affect the disability community.

We need your negative and positive experiences with each issue. Your stories can bring dry statistics to life and give us powerful support in our advocacy efforts. Your answers to these surveys will turn national data into relevant “Texspecific” numbers that our state legislators can better understand. When you take one (or all) of the three surveys, you will be telling us, in your own words, how each of these issues affect you! We know these issues are important to you, and we want the most up-to-date and relevant data available to provide a strong foundation for our efforts during the 84th Texas Legislative Session.

For example, do you have, or want, a job? From nationally collected data we know that people with disabilities are disproportionately unemployed. But we want to know how many of you are employed, unemployed, or looking for work. Then, we want to hear your stories about how you’ve accessed Texas state programs, what you enjoy about your job, and your suggestions on how to eliminate restrictions or barriers.

Please take a few minutes to fill-out the survey that is most important to you. And if you have more time, fill out another. Please fill out one survey for each individual with a disability in your household.

Prizes: We are awarding three Amazon gift cards to survey participants ($35, $15, and $10)! Winners will be chosen randomly from the survey submissions. A person cannot win more than once. Winners will be announced on May 1, 2015.

Survey Results: Three white papers including summarized info and other research data will be generated and posted to txdisabilities.org. All participants will be notified when the white papers are available.

Privacy statement: We will never, ever, share any of your names, or personal information, without your expressed approval. As part of each survey, you will have the opportunity to give us permission share only your first name, City, and personal stories with legislators in your districts and throughout the state. While CTD will be sharing the summarized results of the statistical data, your last name, address, salary, and other individual data will never be shared with anyone.
